Doctors from the Cardiology Center, E Hospital promptly rescued a 50-year-old male patient, Romanian nationality, living in Hanoi, suffering from acute myocardial infarction and sudden cardiac arrest after playing sports.
Previously, while playing pickleball with friends at a sports stadium, the man showed symptoms of chest pain and shortness of breath. Immediately, he was taken to Hospital E for emergency treatment. However, as soon as he arrived at the hospital gate, the patient suddenly collapsed, cardiac arrest and fell into critical condition. The on-duty team quickly activated the "red alert" process throughout the hospital, deploying continuous cardiac compression and electroshock defibrillation. After two electric shocks, the patient's heart beat again, consciousness gradually recovered.
The results of the electrocardiogram and coronary angiography showed that the patient had acute acute parotid-cervical myocardial infarction, completely blocked the anterior interstitial artery due to a blood clot. Under the direction of the Board of Directors and the Cardiology Center, doctors decided to intervene for emergency, suction blood clots, revascularization and placement of a stent to cover the patient to save her life. Despite facing many difficulties in terms of procedures and costs because the patient was a foreigner and did not bring money, the hospital still gave maximum priority to emergency care, and at the same time coordinated with the Department of Social Work to contact family members to ensure that the intervention took place smoothly.
Dr. Phan Thao Nguyen - Deputy Director of E Hospital - Head of the Cardiovascular Center said: after intervention, the patient's condition progressed well, chest pain subsided, blood circulation stabilized, she could walk gently and is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the next few days.
Doctors warn that recently there have been many cases of sudden death, stroke or injury when playing pickleball - a sport with rapid rhythm, sudden change of direction, causing the heart to work at high intensity for a short time. This is especially dangerous for people who already have cardiovascular risk factors, even when not diagnosed.
Sudden cardiac arrest related to sports can occur in people with known cardiovascular diseases, underlying heart diseases that have not been detected, even in people who seem to be completely healthy. Therefore, to prevent it, each person needs to have regular health check-ups, screen for cardiovascular diseases, develop a training plan suitable for their physical condition, avoid excessive effort, maintain a healthy lifestyle, a reasonable diet and limit stress.
Especially, in the context of Hanoi weather suddenly turning cold, elderly people and people with underlying diseases such as hypertension, diabetes need to adhere to treatment, take medicine regularly, and consult a doctor when there are abnormal signs. When left chest tightness appears, it can spread to the shoulder or left hand, accompanied by shortness of breath, and sweating does not subside when resting, it is necessary to go to the nearest medical facility immediately for timely emergency care.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
