On December 11 and 12, in Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province, the Naval Region 5 Command coordinated with the Ministry of Health to organize medical examinations and provide free medicine to policy families under the 2025 Military-Civilian Medical Combination Program. This is a practical activity to express gratitude to policy beneficiaries and at the same time celebrate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2025).
More than 300 war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs' relatives, families with meritorious services to the revolution and people in difficult circumstances in the area have been examined by doctors and nurses of the 78 Treatment Team, Logistics - Technical Department, Navy Region 5, given clinical examinations, general ultrasounds, heart-storing, blood tests, urine tests, health consultations and medicine according to regulations.
Cases with diseases beyond their professional capacity are instructed to transfer to ensure timely and proper health care.
To make the program effective, the Naval Region 5 Command has proactively coordinated with local authorities to make a list of subjects, arrange means of transport to pick up and drop off cases of difficult travel, far from medical examination and treatment locations, and fully prepare equipment, supplies and medicine... The total cost is 90 million VND from the 2025 Military-Civilian Medical Combined Program.
Free medical examination and medicine provision contributes to strengthening grassroots health care, taking care of people's health in border areas and islands; at the same time, tightening solidarity between the army and people, promoting the effectiveness of the Program to combine military and medicine in the new situation.
