On May 25, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luan - Chairman of Binh An Commune People's Committee (An Giang) said that a tragic accident had just occurred in the area, killing two students while swimming in the lake.
According to initial information, at about 2 pm on May 24, H.H. T (13 years old) and L.M. K. (20 years old), both residing in Rach Gia ward, and a group of friends went to Binh An commune to fish.
At about 4 pm, T and K went down to the lake to swim, but both drowned.
After the incident occurred, functional forces of Binh An commune and Rach Gia ward were present at the scene to provide rescue, but both still did not survive.
Mr. Luan said that the locality has sent a report to the Provincial Police Department, as well as handed over the bodies to the families to take care of the funeral for the children.
