Following the success of two years of implementation in Ho Chi Minh City, the expansion of the program to Hanoi demonstrates Coca-Cola's long-term efforts and commitments in its sustainable packaging strategy, aiming to accompany the community in collecting and recycling plastic waste.
With the message "Recycling plastic bottles, continuous journey", the program contributes to raising awareness and encouraging people, especially the younger generation, to form the habit of collecting and sending bottles for recycling, joining hands for sustainable development goals.
In 2023 and 2024, the program has created a positive effect in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting the participation of a large number of consumers, especially young people. Accompanying strategic partners such as Tien Phong, VECA, Duy Tan, BOTOL newspapers and the cooperation of the community, the program contributes to building a circular ecosystem, where every plastic bottle or aluminum can after use has the opportunity to be recycled. Within the framework of the program over the past two years, joint activities with VECA and BOTOL have collected hundreds of thousands of bottles and cans for recycling.
This year, in addition to the collection points in Ho Chi Minh City, the program will be expanded to 6 universities and residential areas in Hanoi. The collection activities are carried out through the automatic collection machine system of BOTOL and GreenU - a consulting, training, communication and implementation unit of projects in the field of plastic waste management.
People just need to bring used plastic bottles and aluminum cans to the collection points to send to recycling, accumulate points on the Zalo application and exchange the gifts. This simple and convenient way of participating is expected to encourage young people to proactively classify and recycle plastic waste right at the source.
Journalist Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper - said: "Students are a part of the readers that we pay special attention to. This is the second year we have coordinated with Coca-Cola and universities to organize the program " reclaimed plastic displacement, continuous journey" with the desire to contribute to raising awareness of creating the habit of collecting and recycling, helping to reduce plastic waste - especially plastic bottles/almonds released into the environment - among students".
