As Lao Dong newspaper reported, on the night of August 7, 2026, Phu Tho issued flood warning on the Thao River (main stream of the Red River), the water level at 9:10 pm at Am Thuong hydrological station reached 24.53m, 0.03m above alarm level 1.
Downstream, where Phong Chau bridge spans the Red River, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters recorded that although the Red River floodwaters are rising at this time, the bridge is still solid.
The project to build the new Phong Chau bridge, National Highway 32C, Phu Tho province is allowed by the Prime Minister to be implemented according to the Emergency Construction Order to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 (Yagi) on September 9, 2024.
The project has a total investment of 635 billion VND, about 652.88m long, of which the main bridge length is about 383.3m, and the width is 20.5m.
After 9 months of "3 shifts, 4 crews" construction, the bridge was completed 3 months earlier than the contract. By September 28, 2025, the project was officially inaugurated and put into use.

Mr. Bui Van Tuyen - owner of a business store in the Phong Chau bridge area (Van Xuan commune) - recalled: "When we were building the bridge, I went out to see every day, witnessing firsthand the meticulousness and professionalism of soldiers and bridge workers. We people are very proud and completely assured of the quality of the project.
Also according to records, on the left bank of the river in Phung Nguyen commune, a solid stone embankment, hundreds of meters long, has been built, ending the risk of riverbank erosion.

This solid structure spanning the heavily alluvial Red River is not only a symbol of hard work and courage, but also a testament to the strong revival from the hardships of the Ancestral Land region.
For nearly 1 year since the new Phong Chau bridge was inaugurated, the travel of people, workers, and students on both sides of the river has been convenient, and cargo and passenger transport routes have been restored.
Mr. Nguyen Van Son - owner of Son Ha passenger car (Cam Khe - My Dinh route) - shared: "The new bridge is wide, so there has never been a traffic jam, especially transport vehicles no longer have to go around, going on the right route, so there are no additional costs, convenient for both car companies and people".

Not only that, the smooth operation of the key national highway has promoted the development of transport and industrial infrastructure. Large projects, industrial zones/clusters in the area, especially in the old Tam Nong district - have been invested in and accelerated progress.
Most recently, the extended inter-regional road connecting National Highway 32 has been completed. In the near future, the project to expand the road connecting Phong Chau bridge to the inter-regional road will also be invested soon.
Along with that, Trung Ha industrial park is increasingly expanding, Van Xuan industrial cluster has attracted more investors, Tam Nong industrial cluster is accelerating site clearance progress...

The new Phong Chau bridge has restored traffic on the key national highway, revived trade and freight transport activities, contributing to promoting investment attraction and contributing to socio-economic development.
