The inter-regional road project connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C from Phu Tho province to Yen Bai province (now Lao Cai province) - has a total adjusted investment of 2,120 billion VND.
Belonging to the project, Package No. 60: Construction of the extended road has a winning bid price of nearly 97.6 billion VND - implemented from May 2025.
According to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper in the last days of July 2026, after more than 1 year of construction, the road built with a total length of 3.726km has been completed.
It can be seen that the final tasks such as: Asphalt paving of the road surface, painting of road markings, installation of traffic guardrails, sign system... have been completed.
A major item, the overpass on the Ho Chi Minh road, has also been completed, and the lighting system and traffic lights at intersections have also been turned on... Vehicles can now travel on the new route.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat - a resident living in Tam Nong commune - happily said: "Our people are very happy, last year the Phong Chau bridge was completed, this year it is an extended inter-regional road, my hometown is even more spacious and modern.
The extended inter-regional road is designed according to level III plain road standards, design speed of 80 km/h, constructed through Van Xuan and Tam Nong communes.
The starting point of the route is at Km0 of the inter-regional road, the ending point is at Km76+150 of National Highway 32 (section of Tam Nong Regional Medical Center, about 400m from Phong Chau bridge).
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper on the morning of July 22, Mr. Do The Nam - Deputy Director of Phu Tho Regional Project Management Board - said that so far, the construction package for the extended inter-regional road has completed all construction items.
The project is in the process of completing dossiers and traffic safety appraisal to proceed to acceptance and handover to put the project into operation" - Mr. Nam shared.
The completion of the project will be a stepping stone for Phu Tho to implement the project to expand the road connecting Phong Chau bridge to the inter-regional road (National Highway 32 section from the beginning of Phong Chau bridge to the end of the extended inter-regional road).
Previously, on February 9, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc signed Decision No. 262/QD-TTg on adjusting the central budget reserve source for 2024 assigned to the Ministry of Construction to supplement targetedly corresponding to Phu Tho province.
Transferring 196.596 billion VND from the central budget reserve for 2024 assigned to the Ministry of Construction in Decision No. 1389/QD-TTg dated November 15, 2024 of the Prime Minister to supplement with corresponding objectives for Phu Tho province to implement the project to expand the road connecting Phong Chau bridge to the inter-regional road.
In the future, when the section from Phong Chau bridge to the extended inter-regional road is expanded, it will create a synchronous and modern inter-regional road traffic axis - Phong Chau bridge - National Highway 32C.
