On the afternoon of June 26, in Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang Provincial Police organized a preliminary conference to evaluate the results of implementing the Project to build Phu Quoc special zone into a "Model unit for security, order and urban civilization" in June 2026.
With the spirit of urgency, decisiveness, and closely following the direction of the Director of the Provincial Police, the implementation of the Project continues to achieve many important results, creating clear changes in all aspects of work, contributing to maintaining political security stability, ensuring social order and safety, and building a safe and civilized environment, serving the goal of developing Phu Quoc into a modern special zone, an international-class tourist destination.
To date, the Police of units and Phu Quoc Special Zone Police have completed 66/78 criteria of the Project, reaching 84.62%; and 12 criteria are being focused on directing to be completed in 2026. This result shows the high political determination of the entire force in realizing the goal of building Phu Quoc into a model area for security and order associated with building a civilized city.
During the month, the Police force continued to strengthen area management and subject management; proactively grasped the situation, reviewed, classified, called, questioned, deterred, and educated subjects at risk of violating the law; promptly advised on resolving cases arising right from the grassroots level, not allowing hot spots to form, not allowing passivity or surprise to occur. In parallel, crime prevention and control work was implemented drastically and synchronously. The rate of investigation and crime discovery reached 87.5%; arrested and handled 39 subjects committing crimes against social order... Absolute safety has been ensured for 6 coercive measures forcing land recovery.
Many creative models continue to be effectively implemented such as the model "Education, orientation towards goodness for people who complete drug detoxification", the model "Special Zone Police accompany citizens to proficiently use utilities on the VNeID application", contributing to improving the quality of service to the people, building a modern administration, putting people at the center.
In particular, the Provincial Police have coordinated with the Traffic Police Department and functional sectors to survey and develop plans to organize safe traffic in the special zone, aiming to develop a synchronous and modern transportation system, meeting the requirements of international tourism urban development, effectively serving major events, especially the APEC High-Level Week in the coming time.
Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Major General Nguyen Van Han, Director of An Giang Provincial Police, acknowledged and praised the spirit of responsibility, proactiveness and high determination of the Police of units and Phu Quoc Special Zone Police in implementing the Project; and affirmed that the results achieved not only demonstrate the effectiveness of professional solutions but also create an important foundation for building Phu Quoc into a safe, civilized, and modern special development zone, meeting the requirements of rapid and sustainable development in the new period.
The Director of the Provincial Police requested the entire force to continue to focus on completing the remaining criteria of the Project; proactively grasp the situation from early on, from afar, from the grassroots level; resolutely fight and suppress all types of crimes, especially drug crimes, organized crime, high-tech crime; strengthen the management of residence, foreigners, land, construction, and accommodation business activities; promote digital transformation, improve the quality of service to the people and promote the effectiveness of security and order assurance models.
