On November 9, Mr. Bui Ngoc Tam - Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Canh Commune (Dak Lak Province) confirmed that he had grasped information about a clip circulating on social media recording a scene of a corrugated iron roof that was said to have been cut across the coconut tree trunks in storms.
However, Mr. Bui Ngoc Tam added that where the video was filmed, whether it was edited or not, still needs to be verified to clarify.
I will direct further verification to clarify this incident. However, the fact that the corrugated iron roof can fly and cut down the coconut trees seems unreasonable," said Mr. Tam.
On the same morning (November 9), netizens were still fighting fiercely about the widely shared video, claiming that coconut trees (in Xuan Canh commune) were cut down due to the impact of storm No. 13.
Previously, a social media account posted a 27-second video recording the image of a cut coconut tree (in Xuan Canh commune). According to the clip, the cut on the coconut body has wavy lines, looking like a corrugated iron edge.
Many viewers believe that strong storm winds have caused the corrugated iron film to fly and cut the coconut trunk. However, many opinions have also refuted it, arguing that the fact that corrugated iron can cut a large coconut tree in half is very unlikely.
After a short time of posting, this video attracted nearly 6 million views and tens of thousands of comments and shares, dividing the online community into two opposing opinions. One side believes that this is a real phenomenon due to strong winds. The other side said that the video showed signs of editing or staging.
Currently, local authorities are verifying the information to clarify the truth of the incident.
