Naval students from 12 countries experience training and practice on Sailing Boat 286 - Le Quy Don in Nha Trang.

On August 26, according to information from the Navy, this morning, international naval students and students from Vietnamese military schools in the area continued sports exchanges on Nha Trang beach (Khanh Hoa), with contents emphasizing speed, endurance and teamwork spirit.

Previously, within the framework of the "International Naval Officer Trainee Exchange" program in 2026 organized by the Vietnam Naval Academy, international naval officer trainees had just participated in experiencing and practicing on Sailing Boat 286 - Le Quy Don on August 25.

Before the ship leaves the wharf, trainees are informed by officers and crew of regulations to ensure safety when operating at sea. During the practice process, in-charge officers and model teams directly guide and correct movements for trainees.

The trainees are divided into 3 groups, taking turns practicing in the cabin area, steering column and middle column. The experience content includes learning about the ship control system; operating to hold the direction, change direction, steer the ship according to the captain's verbal command; determining the position of the ship using satellite positioning, 1/6 engine and compass.

Trainees are also instructed to practice basic operations with the sail system such as pulling the rope, tying, locking and rolling the rope; stretching and lowering the triangular nose sail and the front mast square sail.

On the evening of August 25, a reception party on ship 286 - Le Quy Don with typical Vietnamese dishes created a space for exchange between young students from many countries.

The program was attended by representatives of functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy, the Naval Academy, along with officers, officers, and students of Vietnamese military schools and officers and students of the military and navy of 12 countries: Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand.

Colonel Nguyen Dinh Giang - Deputy Director of the Naval Academy, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Naval Academy, thanked young officers and trainees from other countries for actively participating in the program with a spirit of solidarity and cooperation.

According to Colonel Nguyen Dinh Giang, experiential activities, exchanges and interactions contribute to strengthening understanding, connecting, and fostering friendship between students from different countries, while also helping delegates understand more about the country and people of Vietnam.
