On July 9, Son La Provincial Police said that Chieng Coi Ward Police had received a live, healthy pangolin individual voluntarily handed over by Mr. Nguyen Lam Tung (born 1991, residing in To Hieu ward, Son La province).
Previously, at about 11:30 pm on July 8, when taking a taxi through the hard bridge area on Hung Vuong street, Chieng Coi ward, Mr. Tung discovered a pangolin individual crawling on the road.
Suspecting that this was a rare wild animal, he took this individual to Chieng Coi Ward Police for handover and handling according to regulations.
After receiving it, Chieng Coi Ward Police coordinated with Forest Protection Department Area 12 and Son La Provincial Forest Protection Department to inspect and determined that this is a pangolin individual belonging to the group of wild animals that need to be protected.
Functional forces have completed handover procedures for care, management and continued to verify the origin before releasing them back into the natural environment according to regulations.
Mr. Nguyen Lam Tung's conscious action contributes to spreading awareness of wildlife protection and biodiversity conservation.
