On July 10, Lao Cai Provincial Police said that Phong Hai Commune Police had just received a wild python individual voluntarily handed over by people to hand over to specialized agencies for care and release back to the natural environment.
Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Van Bo (born in 1945, residing in hamlet 4, Phong Hai commune) while checking his family's garden discovered a wild python weighing about 6kg.
Instead of arbitrarily raising or handling them, Mr. Bo proactively contacted and handed them over to the Commune Police.
Immediately after receiving it, Phong Hai Commune Police coordinated with the forest rangers to complete the procedures according to regulations.
The python individual was then handed over to the Hoang Lien Tourism and Biological Conservation Center under Hoang Lien National Park for health care before being released back into the natural environment.
According to Phong Hai Commune Police, the fact that people proactively hand over wild animals shows that their awareness of law compliance is increasingly improved, and at the same time reflects the effectiveness of propaganda on wildlife protection by the grassroots police force.
The commune police also recommends that when people discover wild animals, they should not arbitrarily raise them in captivity, buy and sell them, or hunt them, but need to promptly notify functional agencies for guidance and handling in accordance with regulations, contributing to protecting biodiversity and the ecological environment.
