Traffic jam near Tet, many passengers late for train to return home at Saigon station
On February 7, Mr. Le Anh Tuan - Director of Saigon Railway Transport Branch - said that in the past 3 days, the number of passengers arriving at Saigon station who were late for trains was relatively large. On February 6 alone, about 60 passengers missed their trips.
According to Mr. Tuan, the main reason is that near Tet, traffic density increases, many roads are frequently congested, causing travel time to be longer than expected. Meanwhile, although the ticket clearly states that passengers need to be present at the station at least 30 minutes before the train departs, many people still follow the exact time, leading to "failure" when encountering traffic jams.

Noi Bai Port is expected to welcome more than 720,000 passengers during Tet 2026
Noi Bai International Airport said that passenger volume during the peak of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 is forecast to grow at a double-digit rate. Faced with great operating pressure, the Airport has proactively deployed peak service scenarios, focusing on optimizing terminal infrastructure and strengthening technology application to ensure safe and smooth operation.
According to the flight plan of airlines, travel demand during Tet this year increased sharply on both domestic and international routes. In the 7 days before Tet (from February 10 to February 16, 2026), Noi Bai International Airport is expected to serve more than 720,000 passengers, an increase of 16% compared to the same period; the number of flights reached 4,467, an increase of 12.5%. The peak day before Tet falls on the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month (February 14, 2026), with more than 160,000 passengers and 674 flights.

Shoe and sandal repairmen "cannot breathe" near Tet
In the days leading up to Tet, the shoe repair profession becomes busier than ever. For many workers, this is considered the "golden season" of the year. Not only is there a lot of customers, but the price of shoe repair services near Tet is also slightly higher than usual. Specifically, shoe sole replacement ranges from 50,000–120,000 VND/pair; glue application, shoelace patching from 20,000–40,000 VND/time; polishing, surface renewal from 30,000–40,000 VND. For high-end leather shoes, branded shoes, the repair price may be higher, depending on the degree of damage.
Mr. Viet (55 years old, shoe repairman on Le Dai Hanh street, My Tho ward, Dong Thap province) said that every day he repairs about 30-50 pairs of shoes, with revenue reaching from 1–1.5 million VND. After deducting material costs, he still makes a profit of about 600,000–1 million VND. Especially on peak days near Tet, some days the income is nearly 2 million VND.
