Noi Bai International Airport said that passenger volume during the peak of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 is forecast to grow at a double-digit rate. Faced with great operating pressure, the Airport has proactively deployed peak service scenarios, focusing on optimizing terminal infrastructure and strengthening technology application to ensure safe and smooth operation.
According to the flight plan of airlines, travel demand during Tet this year increased sharply on both domestic and international routes. In the 7 days before Tet (from February 10 to February 16, 2026), Noi Bai International Airport is expected to serve more than 720,000 passengers, an increase of 16% compared to the same period; the number of flights reached 4,467, an increase of 12.5%.
The peak day before Tet falls on the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month (February 14, 2026), with more than 116,000 passengers and 674 flights.
After Tet, output continues to be maintained at a high level, with about 737,272 passengers, an increase of 12%; the number of flights reached 4,530, an increase of 15.8% compared to the same period. The peak day is the 6th day of Tet (February 22, 2026), when the Port is expected to serve about 117,298 passengers and 676 flights.
To meet the increased traffic volume, Noi Bai International Airport has synchronously prepared operating solutions. Terminal T2 is ready to serve more than 50,000 international visitors per day. In fact, during the recent New Year holiday, the Airport safely served more than 52,000 international visitors to and from each day.
At Terminal T1, all 98 check-in counters are optimized for operation; and at the same time, reserve counters are maintained in halls A, B, E to be ready to relieve passengers when there is localized congestion or airlines increase flights.
Noi Bai International Airport encourages passengers to use VNeID electronic identification accounts for domestic flights. At Terminal T2, the automatic kiosk check-in system, automatic baggage delivery (SBD), automatic security control gate (Autogate) and modern security scanning devices are enhanced, contributing to shortening check-in time and reducing congestion at checkpoints.
In addition, the decision-making coordination model (A-CDM) continues to be applied to optimize infrastructure use and improve the rate of on-time flights. The non-stop toll collection system (ETC) is maintained on all entry and exit lanes, helping to reduce traffic pressure in the terminal area.
Noi Bai International Airport closely coordinates with the Border Gate Police and the Traffic Police force in ensuring security and order, traffic diversion and regulation in the parking area and terminal halls during the Tet peak period.
The airport recommends that passengers actively check in online through the website, airline application, VNeID platform or at check-in kiosks; arrive at the airport 3 hours early for international flights, 2 hours for domestic flights; carefully check personal papers, prepare luggage according to regulations and limit relatives seeing off to reduce pressure on the terminal.
