On February 7, Mr. Le Anh Tuan - Director of Saigon Railway Transport Branch - said that in the past 3 days, the number of passengers arriving at Saigon station who were late for trains was relatively large. On February 6 alone, about 60 passengers missed their trips.
According to Mr. Tuan, the main reason is that near Tet, traffic density increases, many roads are frequently congested, causing travel time to be longer than expected.
Meanwhile, although the ticket clearly states that passengers need to be present at the station at least 30 minutes before the train departs, many people still clock to the exact time, leading to "missing" trips when encountering traffic jams.
These days, most major roads are crowded. Passengers should closely monitor traffic conditions, proactively arrange time to get to the station to avoid being late for trains" - Mr. Le Anh Tuan emphasized.

During the peak days of Tet service, from February 6th to February 15th (ie from December 19th to 28th of the year At Ty), every day there are about nearly 5,000 to more than 7,700 passengers boarding trains at Saigon, Di An, Bien Hoa stations to return to the Central and Northern provinces to celebrate Tet.
During the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, the railway industry organized more than 900 train trips on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, providing about 384,000 seats, an increase of 7% compared to Tet 2025.
Due to high travel demand, currently train tickets for the Southern route departing from Saigon station during peak days from December 20 to 27 of the lunar calendar (February 7-14) and return tickets to Saigon station from January 4 to January 7 of the lunar calendar have been sold out.
During the Tet holiday, from December 27th to the 6th day of Tet, the railway industry also organizes additional regional train trips such as Saigon station to Nha Trang, Da Nang; Hanoi to Vinh, Da Nang, with about 9,700 tickets to serve the spring travel needs of people.
