Fine dust levels in Hanoi have exceeded the safe threshold.

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said that fine dust has exceeded the safety threshold in recent days, affecting people's health.

The main causes identified include emissions from vehicles, especially those using fossil fuels.

The City People's Committee issued Plan No. 359 dated December 10, 2024 on implementing the Green, Clean and Beautiful emulation movement, Plan 366 dated December 13, 2024 on improving environmental sanitation quality in 4 inner-city districts.

In particular, the city is focusing on directing the implementation of green transformation with public transport with the goal that by 2035, 100% of buses in the city will use clean energy.

Serious traffic jams on many central routes of Ho Chi Minh City

On January 10, many roads in the center of Ho Chi Minh City experienced prolonged traffic jams, making it difficult for people to move around.

On January 10, Lao Dong recorded that in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, although it was not rush hour, on routes such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Nguyen Du, Le Duan, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Hai Ba Trung,... there were prolonged traffic jams.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that since Decree 168/2024 took effect, people's awareness of traffic participants has been raised. However, with the high density of traffic, the road width in many places is narrow, leading to vehicles stopping and waiting for a long time.

Waste treatment on connecting road costs over 500 billion VND in Can Tho before Tet

On the afternoon of January 10, reporters from Lao Dong Newspaper continued to record that at the road connecting Cach Mang Thang 8 with Provincial Road 918, some piles of garbage were still present or only partially treated.

At Rach Suc Bridge (Binh Thuy District), the garbage on the bridge surface has been collected and moved elsewhere. However, there are still signs of people dumping garbage again, despite the “no dumping” sign.

About 30m from Rach Suc bridge towards the roundabout of Vo Van Kiet street, part of the garbage has been taken elsewhere, but there is still some type of garbage that has not been treated. In addition to taking the garbage elsewhere, part of the garbage here is also treated by burning on the spot.

Binh Thuy District will finish handling the piles of garbage at the connecting road worth more than 500 billion VND before Lunar New Year.
