Speaking at the launching ceremony of "For a green capital" by Vingroup, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said: According to recent reports, Hanoi is facing serious air pollution, the level of fine dust in recent days has exceeded the safe threshold, affecting people's health.

The main causes identified include emissions from vehicles, especially those using fossil fuels.

The City People's Committee issued Plan No. 359 dated December 10, 2024 on implementing the Green, Clean and Beautiful emulation movement, Plan 366 dated December 13, 2024 on improving environmental sanitation quality in 4 inner-city districts.

In particular, the city is focusing on directing the implementation of green transformation with public transport with the goal that by 2035, 100% of buses in the city will use clean energy.

"It can be said that the entire city's political system has been and is taking action with great determination to deal with the problem of environmental pollution. However, this challenge cannot be solved by the efforts of the Government alone but requires the joint participation and contribution of the whole society.

In that context, I acknowledge and appreciate the dedication of Vingroup Corporation in launching the campaign For a Green Capital. This is not only an environmental protection campaign but also a strong call for the community to act together For the future of the Capital", the leader of Hanoi city assessed.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen also expressed his impression with the solution that Vingroup has proposed, such as focusing on strong support policies to use electric vehicles to replace traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.

This conversion not only significantly reduces emissions into the environment but also contributes to bringing Hanoi closer to its goal of becoming a green, sustainably developed city.

Hanoi city leaders also called on the entire capital community, from each citizen, business to organizations, to be aware and take action to protect our living environment.

Practical actions, if implemented synchronously, will bring strong impacts, starting from switching to using electric vehicles or electrified public transport, not using coal stoves, burning garbage outdoors, increasing tree planting, and protecting green spaces where you live.

"I believe that with Vingroup's enthusiasm and pioneering spirit, along with strong support from the community, the campaign For a green capital will be a great success. The journey of joining hands to build and transform the living environment is also a journey of connecting the community to arouse a sense of responsibility and love for Hanoi. Let's be determined to act from today for that noble goal so that our Hanoi will be a green, clean and beautiful city and truly a livable place" - Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasized.
