On the afternoon of January 10, reporters from Lao Dong Newspaper continued to record that at the road connecting Cach Mang Thang 8 with Provincial Road 918, some piles of garbage were still present or only partially treated.
At Rach Suc Bridge (Binh Thuy District), the garbage on the bridge surface has been collected and moved elsewhere. However, there are still signs of people dumping garbage again, despite the “no dumping” sign.
About 30m from Rach Suc bridge towards the roundabout of Vo Van Kiet street, part of the garbage has been taken elsewhere, but there is still some type of garbage that has not been treated. In addition to taking the garbage elsewhere, part of the garbage here is also treated by burning on the spot.
According to the reporter's observation, the authorities have stretched ropes and placed signs saying "Fine from 1,000,000 VND to 2,000,000 VND for littering, dumping, or throwing garbage on sidewalks, roadsides, or into urban wastewater drainage systems or surface drainage systems..." to warn people not to litter here.
Continuing to record at many other locations on the connecting road, most of the garbage piles remain in their original state and have not been thoroughly treated.
Speaking with reporters from Lao Dong Newspaper on the same afternoon, Ms. Phan Thi Nguyet - Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuy District (Can Tho City) - informed that after Lao Dong Newspaper published the article "The connecting road worth more than 500 billion VND in Can Tho has many piles of garbage", the district had grasped the information and directed the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (TNMT) and the wards to clean up those piles of garbage.
However, according to Ms. Phan Thi Nguyet, currently, the garbage collection in the area has not been completed. It is expected that before the Lunar New Year 2025, the units will clean up the garbage piles on this connecting road.
On January 9, Permanent Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Duong Tan Hien signed and issued an Official Dispatch conveying the opinion of the Chairman of the City People's Committee on strengthening the control and strict supervision of waste sources and ensuring environmental sanitation during the Lunar New Year 2025.
