According to quick report No. 1 of the Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard Command, as of 3:00 p.m. on September 3, 2024, there are currently 660 ships/6,053 workers still operating at sea. The sea area of the Gulf of Tonkin has 72 ships/1,163 workers; Hoang Sa sea area: 166 ships/847 workers; The sea area between the East Sea, Truong Sa, and DKI: 224 ships/3,179 workers; The sea area of the southern East Sea: 68 ships/451 workers; The sea area of Quang Ngai province: 130 ships/873 workers.
All ships and boats have received information about the storm's developments and direction of movement. For ships and boats in the storm-affected area, the Provincial Border Guard Command has informed the ships and boats and requested them to move quickly to take shelter safely. Currently anchored at ports: 3,552 ships/30,711 workers.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nham Xuan Sy - Director of Quang Ngai Province Hydrometeorological Station said that on the morning of September 2, in the northeast of the Philippines, there was storm YAGI (the storm name YAGI was given by Japan, meaning goat), with an intensity of level 8. It is forecasted that around the afternoon and night of September 3, storm YAGI will move into the East Sea, most likely becoming storm number 3. After that, the storm will move mainly in the West direction and at the same time, the intensity will increase rapidly. It is forecasted that from September 5 to 7, storm YAGI can reach a very strong storm level in the northeast of the East Sea, with maximum strong winds gusting to level 15-17 near the center of the storm, waves 5-7m high, rough seas, very dangerous for ships. "This is a very strong storm, with a wide range of influence. Therefore, ships operating in the central and northern areas of the East Sea and the northern areas of the Hoang Sa archipelago need to have immediate prevention plans," Mr. Sy emphasized.
Also on the afternoon of September 3, Mr. Ho Trong Phuong - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ngai province sent a telegram to agencies and units. The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue requested the Provincial Border Guard Command, Quang Ngai Maritime Port Authority... to closely monitor the storm's developments; organize the counting and strict management of vehicles going out to sea; notify owners of vehicles, captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of the storm to proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas.
