On June 19, the Traffic Safety Committee of Quang Tri province said that in the first quarter of 2025, the traffic accident situation in the area has decreased sharply. The whole province had 35 road accidents, killing 17 people and injuring 26 people - down 37.5% in the number of cases, 34.6% in the number of deaths and 44.7% in the number of injuries compared to the same period last year.
To achieve the above results, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue many documents directing departments, branches and localities to strengthen the assurance of traffic order and safety.
In particular, the coordination in organizing inspections of self-opened crossings across the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway has recorded 13 crossings that have not been cleared. The interdisciplinary inspection team agreed to assign responsibility to localities to handle the problems to ensure safety, while mobilizing people to agree to eliminate spontaneous paths.
The Board has also coordinated with the Department of Construction and local authorities to inspect traffic black spots on National Highway 9D and DT.574, agreeing on a plan to reorganize traffic, and requesting management units to promptly fix them.
Propaganda work has also been implemented synchronously. More than 165,000 leaflets have been printed and distributed to the Department of Education, the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Police, focusing on contents such as safe road travel skills, age regulations for driving, prevention of waterway traffic accidents, alcohol harm... Direct propaganda sessions are also held at 16 schools across the province.
The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has set a target of reducing traffic accidents by over 5% in 2025, focusing on tightening patrols and controls, strictly handling dangerous violations such as drinking alcohol, not wearing a helmet, not having a driver's license or driving a vehicle under the prescribed age said Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan Chief of Office of the Quang Tri Provincial Traffic Safety Committee.
