On August 15, Dak Lieng Commune Police (Dak Lak province) informed that Mr. Y Quyen Je (21 years old, residing in Dong Tien village) proactively brought a pangolin to the commune police to hand it over.
According to Mr. Y Quyen Je, while gardening, he discovered a pangolin climbing a tree. Recognizing that this is a precious and rare wild animal, he safely captured it and contacted the police force to hand it over, instead of hunting or bringing it back for captivity.
Through verification, Dak Lieng Commune Police identified the above individual as a Java pangolin (scientific name Manis javanica), belonging to group IB, weighing 7.2 kg. This is a dangerous, precious, and rare animal, prioritized for protection.
After receiving it, Dak Lieng Commune Police coordinated with functional forces to carry out the necessary procedures to bring the pangolin back to the safe natural environment according to regulations.
Notably, this is not the first case of people in Dak Lieng commune proactively handing over wild animals to the police force. From November 2025 to now, Dak Lieng Commune Police have received a total of 3 rare and precious pangolins voluntarily handed over by people.
