Buon Tua Srah Hydropower Plant regulates water to prevent drought in the downstream area of the Central Highlands

PHAN TUẤN |

Dak Nong - The regulation of water resources for downstream areas of the Central Highlands provinces is being proactively implemented by the Buon Tua Srah Hydropower Reservoir.

The Buon Tua Srah Hydropower Reservoir is the largest reservoir in the upstream of the Krong No River, playing an important role in regulating water and ensuring dry irrigation for the two provinces of Dak Lak and Dak Nong.

Currently, the water level in the reservoir is maintained at an altitude of 480.7m, equivalent to over 300 million m3.

Thus, compared to the water level in 2024, the water level of the reservoir is currently 4m higher, with about 140 million m3.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc, Deputy Director of Buon Kuop Hydropower Company (the unit managing Buon Tua Srah Hydropower Plant), since the beginning of 2025, the Buon Tua Srah Hydropower Reservoir has been storing water up to the design elevation.

With the development of hydrometeorological conditions in the first 3 months of 2025, the water flow to the Buon Tua Srah Hydropower Reservoir is higher than the average of many years and higher than the whole year of 2024.

That is one of the factors that is favorable for the reservoir to operate and provide water for downstream.

Recently, the Buon Tua Srah Hydropower Reservoir has organized a meeting with the People's Committee of Krong No District on the issue of local water supply needs. Thereby, we have adjusted the water appropriately, meeting the needs of the downstream.

Currently, Buon Tua Srah Hydropower Plant always follows the water use plan of Krong No district and the inter-reservoir operation process in the Serepok river basin issued by the Prime Minister.

Buon Tua Srah Hydropower Plant has committed to complying with the requirements of operation according to the inter-reservoir process. The factory affirmed that this year's dry season, the reservoir ensures water for agricultural production and domestic water for people.
