On the afternoon of August 21 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Water Supply and Drainage Association held a press meeting, providing information about Vietnam Water Week 2026 and the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Water Supply and Drainage Association.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Diep - Chairman of the Vietnam Water Supply and Drainage Association - said that Vietnam's water sector is entering an important transformation phase. Digital transformation, adapting to climate change, ensuring water security and mobilizing investment resources are becoming urgent requirements for the development of the sector.
According to Mr. Diep, Vietnam Water Week is not only a place to introduce equipment and technology but also a forum for management agencies, businesses, experts and international partners to exchange views on issues raised in the field of water supply and drainage.
Water sector faces digital transformation and climate change adaptation requirements
Vietnam Water Sector Week 2026 is scheduled to take place from September 16-18 at the Friendship Cultural Palace, Hanoi, with about 250 booths and the participation of organizations and businesses from more than 20 countries and territories.
The event gathers businesses, experts, and scientists working in the fields of water supply and drainage, environment, and technology. This is also the 5th year Vietnam Water Week has been organized.
Within the framework of the event, there will be 3 thematic seminars, focusing on digital transformation in the water sector; adapting to climate change; and public-private partnership (PPP) models to attract investment resources for the water supply and drainage sector.
In which, digital transformation is placed in the context of technology increasingly impacting management and operation activities. Along with that, the impacts of climate change also pose requirements for adaptation solutions and ensuring water security.
The problem of investment capital for water supply and drainage infrastructure
Besides technology and solutions to adapt to climate change, the need to invest in water supply and drainage infrastructure is also an issue raised.
According to the program, the workshop on public-private partnership (PPP) models will focus on attracting investment resources, promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors in water supply and drainage infrastructure development, meeting the goal of double-digit growth.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Diep, along with the requirements of digital transformation and adapting to climate change, the water supply and drainage industry needs to continue to innovate technology, improve management efficiency and mobilize more investment resources.
The selection of topics on technology, climate change and capital sources shows the major issues being raised for water supply and drainage infrastructure in the new development phase.
