Colonel Le Van Tu - Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command (CSB3 Region) - said that the unit was assigned to perform functions, tasks, and powers across the sea and continental shelf from Cu Lao Xanh (Binh Dinh province) to the North shore of Dinh An Gate (Tra Vinh province), including the Truong Sa sea area and the southern continental shelf of the Fatherland.
After 24 years of construction and development, the unit has achieved many outstanding feats, such as rescuing ships attacked by criminals, arresting ships illegally carrying oil and searching, rescuing, and fixing incidents at sea. The unit has also participated many times in supporting fishermen in dangerous and urgent situations amid harsh storms at sea...
For example, the unit organizing the rescue of fishing boat BV-92412.TS in December 2022, when the fishing boat had a broken engine, ran out of food and water and drifted in the rough seas; all fishermen were approached by CSB 8005 to support and towing it to shore safely...
Officers and soldiers always identify participating in search and rescue, protecting and helping fishermen at sea as a combat mission in peacetime, an order from the heart, and a noble quality of Uncle Hos soldiers - Coast Guard soldiers, Colonel Le Van Tu affirmed.
Ensuring security on the sea and islands of the homeland
In recent years, CSB3 Region has actively patrolled and controlled at sea, strongly fighting all types of crimes, especially smuggling, trade fraud, illegal fishing and sovereignty violations. Thereby, thousands of cases have been detected and handled, contributing to the protection of marine resources and ensuring maritime security in the area.
CSB3 region inspected 2,173 ships of all kinds; arrested, received, investigated, and handled 146 cases/174 vehicles for illegal trading and transportation of goods at sea, imposed administrative penalties and distributed goods confiscated to the State budget of more than 341 billion VND; coordinated with forces to fight against and destroy 137 drug cases and cases, arrested 265 subjects to seize many related exhibits; carried out 153 search and rescue cases, rescued 88 vehicles, 1,133 crew members...
CSB3 region also focuses on social security activities in the area, such as effectively implementing the program "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen" in 9 provinces, giving more than 21,000 gifts with a total value of more than 19 billion VND; organizing medical examination and treatment, providing free medicine to fishermen, policy families, and those in difficult circumstances; sponsoring and giving scholarships to children of poor fishermen...
At the same time, properly implement the policies and guidelines of the Party and State, regulations of the Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnam Coast Guard Command on foreign affairs; successfully organize exchanges, search and rescue drills and training to improve the capacity to enforce the law at sea with the coastguard forces of other countries... Thereby spreading the message for a peaceful, cooperative, and mutually developing sea area.
In the coming time, CSB Region 3 will continue to promote tradition, improve capacity and be ready to respond to new challenges at sea. In particular, focus on improving the quality of training, taking the task of protecting sovereignty, enforcing the law and building a disciplined, elite, modern Coast Guard force as the training goal; monitoring, synthesizing, evaluating and advising on policies and proposals to handle situations at sea, not being passive or surprised, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment in coastal areas.
