Rain, landslides, and flash floods continue to threaten
Kon Tum province has entered the rainy season, the weather situation continues to be complicated. With high mountainous terrain and a large river and stream system, the province faces many risks of floods and landslides.
A representative of the Kon Tum Provincial Hydrometeorological Station said: From May to November, the province is likely to experience about 7-9 widespread heavy rains causing floods and inundation.
From July to December, there is a possibility of 3-4 storms and tropical depressions affecting the province, causing widespread heavy rain, causing water levels on rivers to increase, with the possibility of 4-5 floods.
In addition, in the mountainous areas of Kon Plong district, near the Upper Kon Tum hydropower plant, hundreds of large and small earthquakes often appear.
High mountainous areas combined with prolonged heavy rain have a high risk of flash floods, threatening the lives of people in mountainous areas.
Therefore, Kon Tum strengthens natural disaster prevention, control, and search and rescue work, which is an important task to protect people's lives and property.
