ASEAN Cup 2026 will officially kick off today (July 24) with the first matches of Group A.
The highlight is the opening match of the Vietnamese team against Timor Leste at 8:30 PM at Chonburi Stadium (Thailand). This is a neutral stadium that the opponent chose as their home ground because it does not meet the conditions for organizing international matches.
Coach Kim Sang-sik's team entered the tournament with the goal of defending the championship. Before the tournament, the Vietnamese team had active preparation for the training trip in Korea and especially the 4-0 victory over Myanmar in the most recent friendly match.
With a force including many pillars such as Quang Hai, Hoang Duc, Xuan Son, Hoang Hen or Dinh Bac, the Vietnamese team is rated higher than Timor Leste.
The remaining match of Group A taking place at 7:00 PM is the confrontation between Cambodia and Singapore. This is predicted to be a balanced match as both set a goal to compete for a ticket to the semi-finals. Cambodia brings to the tournament a young squad combining many naturalized players, while Singapore also has an optimal force.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian team will rest in the opening match.
