Closing stage 1 of SEA V.Cup 2026, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team finished 4th overall. The team only had one victory 3-0 against Myanmar, lost to Thailand 1-3 in the group stage, lost to Indonesia 0-3 in the semi-finals and lost 1-3 to Thailand in the third-place match.
According to the schedule, stage 2 will take place in Jakarta (Indonesia) from July 22. The teams will continue to compete to determine the final standings of the SEA V.Cup 2026 season.
The coaching staff of the Vietnamese team basically maintained the force that participated in the first leg, and at the same time strengthened setter Tran Hoai Phuong and middle blocker Bui Xuan Tien to add depth to the squad.
Coach Federico Rampazzo's team opened with a clash with Thailand at 3:30 PM on July 23, before meeting Myanmar at 3:30 PM on July 24.
After problems revealed in stage 1 such as unstable first pass, unforced serves and the ability to maintain the game against strong opponents, stage 2 is considered an opportunity for the Vietnamese team to improve their playing style and improve their position against opponents including Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and the defending champion of stage 1 Cambodia.
