The host Philippines made history when defeating Egypt - a team 67 places higher in the world rankings. However, the narrow 2-3 loss to Iran unfortunately eliminated them.
Finally, 16 teams that won tickets to the 1/8 round of this year's world tournament are Cambodia, Iran (Group A), Poland, the Netherlands (Group B), Argentina, Finland (Group C), USA, Portugal (Group D), Bulgaria, Slovenia (Group E), Belgium, Italy (Group F), Turkey, Canada (Group G), Serbia, Czech Republic (Group H).
