This morning, March 8, voters in Tho Chau special zone, An Giang province were present early in the polling areas to exercise their citizenship rights, to elect National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
According to the leader of the Special Zone People's Committee, Tho Chau has 5 polling stations with more than 2,000 voters.
Recorded from early morning, people were present to vote, everyone was excited, believing that the ballot in hand would select worthy delegates with talent and virtue. The weather on election day was light and sunny, very favorable for people on the island to vote.
Voter Khuong Thi Lanh shared: "Through the election ballot, we people place our trust in the candidates, hoping to choose people with enough virtue and talent to represent their voice, will, and aspirations. We hope the issues raised by voters will be resolved soon in the near future.
Mr. Huynh Huu Hiep, a voter in Bai Ngu hamlet, shared: "We have researched and carefully learned about the biographies and action programs of the candidates. Tho Chau is a remote island area with certain difficulties and obstacles, so voters really hope that the elected delegates will contribute their voice to solve the issues raised by voters.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tho Chau Special Economic Zone Tran Quoc Giang said that the conditions on remote islands where people live by fishing and doing business far away, the People's Committee of the Special Economic Zone has directed and closely coordinated forces, especially promoting the role of the Police, hamlet leaders, and People's Self-Management Groups to "go to each alley, knock on each house, and look for each object".
In parallel, it is to promote coordination with the Border Guard Station, Coast Guard and construction units to grasp the number of voters who are not local people/residents under 12 months to create conditions for voters to have the right to elect 2 or 3 levels according to the law. With a special area, more than 200km by sea from the mainland, Tho Chau is allowed by the National Election Council to organize early elections to ensure compliance with travel conditions, national defense and security tasks, and the right to mastery of officers, soldiers, and people on the island.
Election regulations have been notified to voters, helping voters understand and implement them correctly when participating in voting. Representatives of voters were invited by the election team to check the ballot boxes before voting according to regulations.
