Attending the Congress were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi - former Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Mr. Tran Thai Son - Member of the Executive Committee, Head of the Professional Affairs Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Ms. Vu Thi Ha - Member of the Executive Committee, Deputy Chief of Office of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
The Congress was attended by delegates who are members of the Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper in the Hanoi area and delegates representing members in the Central and Southern regions.
The Congress aims to assess the operating results of branches in the 2023-2026 period; review the leadership and administration of the Executive Committee in the past term; discuss and propose directions, tasks and operating solutions in the 2026-2031 term; and at the same time elect the Executive Committee of the Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper for the new term.
With 97 years of history, Lao Dong Newspaper is one of the press agencies with a long tradition, associated with the task of protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
In the period 2023-2026, press activities have many changes in the face of digital transformation requirements, information competition on digital platforms, rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), multimedia journalism trends and the requirement to innovate the organizational and operational model of the editorial office in a modern and convergent direction.
In that context, Lao Dong Newspaper continues to innovate, adapt to the development trend of modern journalism, and gradually improve the quality of content and methods of conveying information to readers.
The achieved results have the contribution of the team of officials, reporters, editors, and employees throughout the agency, including the role of the Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper and the concern and support of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
Currently, the Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper has 160 members, accounting for about 85% of the total number of officials, reporters, and employees of the agency.
Identifying improving professional and nghiệp vụ capacity for members as an important task, the Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper regularly organizes professional activities, in-depth exchanges on AI application in journalistic activities; building nghiệp vụ guidance materials, developing common electronic photo libraries and organizing direct training programs combined with online, connecting representative offices in regions.
The branch also coordinates with the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Press Professional Training Center to send reporters and editors to participate in training courses and professional development at home and abroad. After each program, the branch organizes knowledge sharing and dissemination at the editorial office to spread and improve training effectiveness.
Through training activities, professional activities and political and ideological education, professional ethics, professional skills and digital technology application capacity of members are gradually improved, meeting the requirements of innovation and development of journalism in the new period.
The 1st Congress of the Liaison Committee of the Lao Dong Newspaper Journalists Association, term 2026-2031, is an opportunity to comprehensively assess the activities of the Association organization in the past term, and at the same time determine the direction and key tasks in the new term.
At the Congress, the Executive Committee of the Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper for the 2026-2031 term included 7 comrades.
The Inspection Board of the Inter-branch Association for the 2026-2031 term includes 3 comrades.
The Congress also agreed to establish 3 Journalists Branches directly under the Lao Dong Newspaper Journalists Branch Association in the North, Central and Southern regions.
For the 2026-2031 term, the Secretariat of branches will be appointed by the Executive Committee of the Inter-branch Association according to the Personnel Project approved by the Party Committee, the Editorial Board and approved by the Vietnam Journalists Association.
