On April 21, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a ceremony to celebrate its 75th anniversary (April 21, 1950 - April 21, 2025).
Over the past three quarters of the century, the Association has continuously developed, affirming its position as a socio-political organization - the profession of revolutionary journalists, contributing to building a professional, humane, modern journalism, accompanying the revolutionary cause and developing the country.
75 years ago, in Roong Khoa hamlet, Diem Mac commune, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, the Association of Vietnamese Journalists (the predecessor of the Vietnam Journalists Association) held its first Congress.
The event is an important historical milestone for the Vietnamese revolutionary press when those who areofficial journalists have a political - social - professional organization representing and accompanying the nation in the revolutionary cause.
During the length of the national resistance war, the birth of the Association demonstrated the spirit of solidarity, unity, promoting the strength of the revolutionary ideal and the commitment of the journalist team. Through the sharp pen, journalists and the Party fought for independence, freedom and reunification of the country. There were so many senior journalists - the hero who held the pen - fell on the battlefield, leaving blood bones and heroes holding guns.
During the period of building socialism in the North, fighting for national reunification and after the country was completely liberated, the Vietnam Journalists Association continuously grew strongly. Journalists' Associations and branches have been established at most central and local press agencies, contributing significantly to professional training, improving professional qualifications, especially political competence for journalists nationwide.
Through the voice of the Association, the construction of socialism in the North was positive propaganda; The heroic struggle of the Southern people is deeply reflected; The socio -economic and prosperous development of the country under the leadership of the Party is widely and effectively communicated.
Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor -in -chief of the People's Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department and the Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association - emphasized that on the 75 -year journey of history, the Vietnam Journalists Association always promoted the role of socio -political and professional organizations of journalists; Constantly innovating the mode of operation, meeting the requirements of the new situation. The association is the voice of the people, the forum of society, actively participating in social supervision and criticism, contributing to building a clean and strong political system.
At the ceremony, Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department - congratulated the glorious achievements of the Vietnam Journalists Association and its members over the past 75 years.
In 2025, it is special for the press and the Vietnam Journalists Association: This is the year of summarizing the Resolution of the 11th Congress of Vietnam Journalists Association for the 2020-2025 term and also the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
On this occasion, Deputy Head of Propaganda Department and Central Mobilization Phan Xuan Thuy suggested a number of issues to be concerned about: thoroughly grasping and strictly implementing the policy of arranging, streamlining and consolidating political -social organizations, mass associations assigned by the Party and the State; Renewal of the role and responsibility of the press and the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new era in accordance with the Party's orientation on "Building a journalism, professional, human and modern communication".
Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy also asked the Association to promptly propose to the Party, the State and the Government on mechanisms and policies to support the development of the press; Proactively organize activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese revolutionary press solemnly and practically, creating a deep impression and strongly spreading in society about the glorious historical tradition, about the role, position and mission of the Vietnamese revolutionary press in the new period of revolution.
