Expanding the network of international friends
On August 5, within the framework of the 33rd Diplomatic Conference to promote the pioneering role and perform key and regular tasks of Vietnam's foreign affairs in the new era, the plenary session on Party Foreign Affairs and People's Foreign Affairs took place. At the meeting, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Cao Xuan Thao presented a paper with the theme: Promoting the role of the Fatherland Front in gathering, orienting activities, developing staff and strengthening coordination between forces working in people's foreign affairs.
Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Cao Xuan Thao said that, with the role of a political alliance organization, a voluntary union of political organizations, socio-political organizations, social organizations and typical individuals in social classes, ethnic groups, religions, and overseas Vietnamese; the Front has a very important role, position, and mission in people-to-people diplomacy.
The Front and member organizations have conditions and advantages to expand cooperation, build and consolidate trust, connect feelings between our people and people of other countries; spread values of peace, cooperation, and friendship; and seek broad consensus and support from the international community for the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.
According to Mr. Cao Xuan Thao, in the past time, the deployment of activities according to the new model from July 1, 2025 has created an important premise for the Front to innovate its operating methods. The Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and central organizations have led and managed unified foreign affairs activities; promoted the role of the Front in gathering, orienting, consulting, and clearly assigning tasks of the Front to member organizations so that each organization can maximize its own unique strengths, ensuring unity and synchronization between forces working in people's foreign affairs.
From the smooth and harmonious assignment and coordination, the Front and member organizations have effectively implemented foreign affairs activities according to the Party's foreign policy. Focusing on promoting friendly and cooperative relations with neighboring countries sharing borders and countries in the region to become substantive and effective, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment. For other areas, the Front has oriented and approved the activities of member organizations, expanded the network of international friends, and created a diverse, flexible and profound people-to-people diplomacy network.
Every citizen can promote Vietnam's image
In the coming time, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front determines to innovate people's foreign affairs thinking in a proactive, professional, and modern direction, contributing to creating a social foundation for Party foreign affairs and State diplomacy.
People-to-people diplomacy will not only stop at traditional exchanges but also strongly focus on knowledge, science, culture, digital diplomacy and innovation, along with humanitarian activities and community development.
According to Mr. Cao Xuan Thao, each member organization of the Front, union members, association members, scientists, artists and people can become factors to promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam.
The Front will continue to consolidate relations with traditional people's organizations; expand cooperation with social organizations, research institutes, universities, professional associations, businesses, non-governmental organizations and international networks. Priority is given to partners in digital transformation, green transformation and climate change response.
The community of more than 6.5 million overseas Vietnamese is identified as an important resource in economy, intelligence, technology, innovation and a bridge of people-to-people diplomacy. The Front will innovate methods of gathering, creating conditions for overseas Vietnamese to strengthen exchanges, connections, and promote the image of Vietnam.
Promoting foreign communication, digital diplomacy
Mr. Cao Xuan Thao also said that he will promote foreign communication and digital diplomacy. The people's foreign affairs force aims to effectively exploit modern communication platforms; strengthen the production of multilingual content, spreading authentic and vivid images of the beautiful country and people of Vietnam; have flexible and flexible forms, resolutely fighting against bad, toxic, and distorted information.
Along with that, promote the central role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in gathering, orienting, and coordinating the foreign affairs plan of member organizations, ensuring unity and synchronization with the Party's foreign affairs and the State's diplomacy. Prioritize shifting people's foreign affairs activities to a practical direction, attracting resources in intelligence, technology, and investment to directly serve the country's socio-economic development.
