Speaking at the Launching Ceremony, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai expressed her pleasure to attend the Launching Ceremony of Humanitarian Month 2026 with the theme "80 years - Journey of compassion for the community"; and emphasized that this is an event of profound political, social and humanistic significance; contributing to strongly spreading the spirit of compassion, solidarity, and attachment between all classes of people and throughout society.
Emphasizing that humanity and charity are a beautiful feature, a precious tradition of our nation, Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai affirmed that "Love others as you love yourself", "Healthy leaves protect torn leaves" is a noble expression of compassion, which has become the core value and great spiritual strength of the Vietnamese nation, helping our country overcome many difficulties and challenges in the process of building and protecting the Fatherland.
Our country is entering a new era - an era of development, innovation and breakthrough, building a country that is increasingly rich, prosperous, civilized, and happy. In that context, humanitarian work needs to be more clearly defined: not only is it a social support activity, but also one of the important pillars of the modern social security system, contributing to maintaining political and social stability, consolidating people's trust, ensuring rapid and sustainable development; at the same time, it is also a vivid manifestation of national cultural identity, a soft power of the nation in international relations," Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai stated clearly.
According to Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai, in the atmosphere of the entire Party, army and people being happy and excited about the success of the 14th Party Congress and the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term, and people's council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, these May days, levels, sectors, and localities are jointly organizing many practical activities to organize the Humanitarian Month associated with the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Red Cross Society. This year is also the fifth year that the Vietnam Red Cross Society has been assigned by the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee to preside over the annual Humanitarian Month, thereby gradually contributing to making the Humanitarian Month a national activity, with spreading power, humanity and sustainability.
In the coming time, to continue to do well and strongly promote the core and specialized role in the field of humanitarian affairs, meeting the increasing work requirements in the new situation, Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai requested the Vietnam Red Cross Society to strengthen proactiveness in advising on completing the strategic orientation of humanitarian work, closely linked to the modern social security system, ensuring inclusiveness and sustainability; improve professionalism in humanitarian activities; strongly innovate methods of mobilizing resources, build a modern humanitarian ecosystem, effectively connecting the State - businesses - international organizations and the community; promote digital transformation, ensure publicity and transparency; proactively expand and elevate humanitarian diplomacy, participate more actively in international support activities, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position and image.
Along with that, it is necessary to organize the Humanitarian Month annually more effectively and practically to truly become a "people's action month for humanity", with clear goals, measurable results, creating a deeper impression and having an increasingly widespread impact.
It is necessary to implement well the two breakthroughs that the Association has set out in 2026: continue to mobilize policies related to the organization and operation of the Association; strongly develop volunteer forces in the direction of improving the quality of operations, strengthening connections, building a contingent of cadres, members, and volunteers with capacity, responsibility, and ready to effectively respond to emergency situations," Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai suggested.
To help the Vietnam Red Cross Society successfully complete its assigned tasks, on the occasion of the Launching Ceremony of the Humanitarian Month, Chairman Bui Thi Minh Hoai requested Party committees and authorities at all levels to continue to pay attention to leadership and direction; create all favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, policies, and resources for Red Cross Societies at all levels to effectively implement humanitarian work.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front and member organizations strongly promote the role of gathering, mobilizing, and connecting social resources; accompanying and supporting humanitarian work to spread more widely and practically. The business community, organizations, individuals and the entire People continue to join hands and accompany with specific and sustainable actions, contributing to building a compassionate society," Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized and said that humanitarian work is both a tradition of our nation and an indicator, a measure of civilization and social progress.
The value of humanity is both the value of human morality, of love, respect and protection of people, and the value of sympathy, sharing, cherishing, respecting, and promoting human dignity. Humanity is not just a value, but must become a driving force for development; not just a movement, but must become a sustainable foundation of modern Vietnamese society.
With the good tradition of the nation, under the wise leadership of the Party, the effective management and administration of the State and the joint efforts of the whole society, Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai believes that Humanitarian Month 2026 will achieve practical results, create a clear mark and continue to strongly spread humanitarian values in the community.
