Scrap collection for fundraising
Over the past time, all levels of the Quang Tri Provincial Women's Union have implemented many models and creative activities, contributing to enhancing the role of women in social life.
In which, the "Green House" waste collection model is considered an effective way, both contributing to maintaining environmental sanitation and raising funds to help people in difficult circumstances.
In recent days, on many roads in Hieu Giang commune, Quang Tri province, the rural landscape is always clean. To have such a green - clean - beautiful environment, women's union members in the commune have actively participated in the Green House model, thereby forming the habit of sorting waste at home.
Recycled waste such as plastic bottles, cans, and waste paper is collected by people and brought to the Green House locations. After that, this scrap is sold to raise funds to support social security activities in the locality.
At the community cultural house in Lam Lang 3 village, Hieu Giang commune, a Green House is built with an iron frame, with a roof and mesh surrounding it, painted in a prominent blue color. This is a scrap collection place for women's union members and people in the village.

At the end of each afternoon, Ms. Le Thi Hue - a member of the women's union of Lam Lang 3 village - brings plastic bottles and cans to put in the Green House. She shared that before, she did not have the habit of sorting garbage, but since the model was implemented, she found this work simple and useful, so she actively participated.
Not only collecting recyclable waste in the family, when free, Ms. Hue also picks up more bottles and cans to contribute to the common fund.
Placing Green Houses in the village hall or roads helps collect scrap effectively, while spreading the message of environmental protection. Everyone can participate by contributing plastic bottles and cans. Thanks to that, many difficult cases in the village are also helped" - Ms. Hue said.
Spreading environmental awareness
When the Green House model went into operation, it received the consensus and response of a large number of women's union members and people. Not only contributing to environmental cleanliness, the model also changed the way of thinking and living of many families.
People are gradually forming the habit of sorting waste at source, taking advantage of recycled waste to contribute to community activities. From selling scrap materials such as plastic bottles, cans or waste paper, women's unions have raised funds to support many difficult cases.

According to the Women's Union of Hieu Giang commune, the whole commune currently has 38 branches with more than 4,000 members. Since the beginning of the year, through the Green House model, local women have raised more than 50 million VND.
This funding is used to visit members when they are sick, support orphans and cases with particularly difficult circumstances.
On a provincial scale, this model also brings clear efficiency. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ha - Vice Chairwoman of the Quang Tri Provincial Women's Union, the whole province has built and maintained more than 1,594 Green Houses in villages, residential areas, schools and community centers.
Through the collection of recycled scrap, associations at all levels have raised more than 3 billion VND to support over 152,000 turns of women and children members in difficult circumstances.
The model not only contributes to reducing plastic waste and improving the living environment, but also creates cohesion in the community, when each member and each family can participate with small but meaningful actions.
