A warm and meaningful home
After the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Ca Mau continues to review cases of housing difficulties. Through this, the locality identified more than 1,000 cases that need support to have safe and stable accommodation.
On June 1, 2026, Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 314/KH-UBND on supporting the construction and repair of houses for disadvantaged people in 2026, aiming to help families with degraded houses soon stabilize their lives, especially before the rainy and storm season.
In Long Dien commune, 10 houses have just been started for poor and near-poor households who are Khmer ethnic people. Each house is supported with 80 million VND, ensuring the "3 solid" standards, including solid foundation, solid frame - walls, solid roof.
Mr. Trinh Thanh Dung (Thanh Tri hamlet, Long Dien commune) is one of the households supported to build a house. Because the family mainly works as hired laborers, income is precarious, so for many years they have not been able to build a new house.
Receiving support, Mr. Dung was happy because from now on his family has a solid place to live, no longer worried every time there is heavy rain and strong winds. The family also plans to contribute more funds to complete the house to be more spacious.
In Hung Hoi commune, 13 cases eligible for housing support are being urgently implemented by the locality. The commune government is working with each household, mobilizing more working days to reduce construction costs.
Vice Chairman of Hung Hoi Commune People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Em said that the locality focuses on the quality of the project so that people can have solid homes. During the implementation process, the commune mobilized more working days to help families reduce construction costs.
Mr. Huynh Chi Trung (Xom Lam hamlet, Hoa Thanh ward) is one of the cases supported to build a house. Belonging to the poor household category, Mr. Trung alone raises two children by collecting scrap metal with unstable income. The old house is degraded, causing the whole family to always worry every time it rains and storms.
In the new house, Mr. Trung emotionally said that without the support of local authorities and philanthropists, his family would hardly be able to build a solid residence. "This rainy and storm season, my family no longer has to be afraid like before because we have a solid house" - he shared.
From new roofs, families have more conditions to stabilize their lives and feel secure in working and producing.
Lighting up the flame of affection in each new house
According to Plan No. 314/KH-UBND, Ca Mau supports the new construction and repair of 1,069 houses in 2026. Of which, 949 houses are newly built, 120 houses are repaired.
Beneficiaries include poor households, near-poor households according to the review results in 2025 approved by the Provincial People's Committee; households that are children of resistance war activists infected with chemical toxins who are facing housing difficulties.
Out of a total of 1,069 houses, 700 newly built houses are for poor and near-poor households. The group of children of resistance war activists infected with chemical toxins is supported with 369 houses, including 249 newly built houses, 120 houses for repair. The level of support for new construction is 80 million VND/house, repair 40 million VND/house. Houses must meet the "3 solid" standards, including solid foundation, solid frame - walls, solid roof. The total cost of implementing the program is over 80 billion VND. Resources are mobilized from the Fund for the Poor, mobilized from the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Party committees, authorities, agencies, units, localities and other legal sources from the community, clans, and families.
In which, support from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is for 369 houses of children of resistance war activists infected with chemical toxins. The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee mobilized support for 525 houses for poor and near-poor households. Party committees, authorities, agencies, units, and localities mobilized support for 175 houses.
The province encourages localities to mobilize more socialized resources, the counterpart of households, and prioritize building hygienic toilets.
Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang said that the program aims to concretize the guidelines and policies on ensuring social security, supporting families still facing housing difficulties. The province prioritizes cases with urgent needs, no housing or seriously degraded housing.
Localities ensure objective and accurate support, not overlapping with other programs; strengthen inspection and supervision, preventing losses, waste, corruption, and negativity.
More than 1,067 homes given away are more than 1,067 meaningful connections, contributing to turning social security goals from numbers into practical values in people's lives.
