On August 28, Urban Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company No. 6 - Dien Bien coordinated with relevant units to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the Yen Truong village social housing project, Thanh Yen commune, Dien Bien province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lo Van Cuong - Standing Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee - said that when the project is completed, it will directly supplement the social housing fund in the area, creating more opportunities for people, workers and eligible subjects to access housing at appropriate prices.
According to leaders of Dien Bien province, the project not only contributes to realizing the goal of "settling down and working", ensuring social security, improving the quality of life of people, but also promotes urban development and completing the infrastructure system in the Yen Truong area.
The Yen Truong village social housing project was approved for investment policy by Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee with a total capital of more than 301 billion VND, implemented on a land area of about 4.88ha.
According to the plan, the project will provide 280 social housing units. A noteworthy point is that instead of developing high-rise apartment buildings, the project is built according to the model of individual, low-rise housing.
In the total project area, about 1.96ha is reserved for the construction of 280 social housing units. The houses are built rough, completed on the outside, with a maximum height of 2 floors. Each unit has a maximum construction land area of 70m2, a maximum floor area of 140m2.
In addition to the social housing fund, the project also arranges 36 commercial houses built in rough construction, completing the exterior on a land area of about 4,040.5m2.
The investor said that the project has a operating term of 50 years. The project will be implemented from the third quarter of 2026 and strives to be completed and put into operation in March 2027.
According to the investment plan, the technical infrastructure system, social infrastructure and green space will be deployed synchronously, aiming to form a new residential area with a good living environment, while contributing to completing the infrastructure of Yen Truong area.
The appearance of the project is expected by local people to add more suitable housing options for low-income people.
Mr. Bui Van Nam, a resident of Thanh Yen commune, shared: "The project will have more houses for low-income people, we are very happy, hoping the project will be completed soon so that people can buy and sell.
Previously, in June 2026, the social housing project in Hoang Van Thai - Khe Chit Residential Area was started. Currently, the contractor is focusing on constructing the items of the project.
According to the Housing Development Program for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2045, Dien Bien sets a target to develop about 20,000m2 of social housing floor space, equivalent to nearly 400 units in the period 2021-2025.
In the period 2026-2030, the province plans to develop about 55,000m2 of social housing floor space, equivalent to about 1,100 units.
The continuous implementation of social housing projects is expected to contribute to increasing supply, meeting the housing needs of low-income people, workers and eligible groups in Dien Bien province.
