On the evening of June 27, at Nguyen Hue walking street (District 1), Ho Chi Minh City organized the Art Program "For a Clean, Green and Environmentally Friendly City", combined with the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Awards Ceremony and honored 50 typical clean, green and environmentally friendly wards, communes and towns. The program is associated with the theme "Green Transformation - Green City".
The program was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Major Holidays Commemoration Organizing Committee, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and related departments and branches.
Attending the program were Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and representatives of departments and branches.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that in addition to achievements in socio-economic development, Ho Chi Minh City is facing many environmental challenges, including waste, air pollution and canals, as well as climate change. In response to the urgent need to ensure the quality of the living environment for community health, the city's leaders always identify: "Environmental protection is a key task, a foundation for sustainable development".
The Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that environmental protection goals and solutions are being focused on integrating into the city's planning orientations, associated with the development orientation of all sectors and fields. These include developing green space, green works, green transportation, waste management towards a circular economy, preventing and controlling pollution, managing water and resources, preserving ecosystems, natural landscapes, along with raising public awareness and businesses about environmental protection, building an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
Thanks to the strong direction of the City Party Committee, the effective coordination between authorities at all levels, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations and especially the unanimous response of the people, "Environmental protection work in the recent past has had many very positive changes", Mr. Cuong emphasized.
Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong congratulated 32 collectives and individuals who were awarded the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Award, and 50 wards, communes and towns were honored.
The Ho Chi Minh City Environment Award is an official award in the field of environmental protection of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, awarded every two years, to honor collectives, individuals and communities that have made positive contributions to the city's environmental protection work.
