On June 27, Mr. Luu Van Loi - Chairman of the Duc Trong District Labor Federation - said that after more than 10 years of implementing the Law on Labor Safety and Hygiene, the unit has continuously made efforts to carry out this work.
"We focus on building a safe working environment to protect the health and lives of workers. This also contributes to promoting sustainable business development, creating stable jobs, and increasing income for workers, Mr. Luu Van Loi emphasized.
According to Mr. Loi, the annual Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene has become an important highlight in this work.
Trade unions at all levels organize many practical activities such as learning about the law, seminars, and exchanging experiences on occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace.
On the other hand, the unit has organized 15 training courses on occupational safety and hygiene for nearly 2,000 employers and employees.
At the same time, 25 specialized training courses were also deployed for more than 770 union officials.
Thanks to the above efforts, awareness of occupational safety and hygiene has changed positively not only at the Party Committee and government levels but also in enterprises and the workforce.
The number of occupational accidents and the number of casualties due to occupational accidents in Duc Trong district are decreasing.
In many enterprises, trade unions have proactively proposed and coordinated with employers to organize occupational safety and hygiene training. The trade union also regularly reviews, assesses risks and promptly implements measures to prevent occupational accidents and diseases" - Mr. Loi affirmed.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Phuoc - Chairman of the Trade Union of Vien Son Joint Stock Company - shared that over the past 10 years, he has been repeatedly disseminated and trained by the higher-level trade union on occupational safety and hygiene.
At the training sessions, grassroots union officials were equipped with knowledge and skills to organize activities to ensure occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace.
Mr. Phuoc said that the union has launched the emulation movement "Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe, hygienic at work" and guided the operation of the occupational safety and hygiene network. Every year, the union also coordinates with the company's board of directors to organize a skills competition associated with ensuring occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace.
"These activities attract a large number of workers, contributing to creating cohesion and raising awareness and sense of responsibility in building a safe working environment," Mr. Pham Ngoc Phuoc shared.
Mr. Luu Van Loi said that Duc Trong district currently has more than 10,000 workers. In the past 10 years, the district has recorded 6 people with occupational diseases, 11 accidents resulting in 4 deaths and 7 injuries.
It is worth mentioning that most accidents occur in areas without labor relations and traffic accidents on the road when workers return home from home to work or from work.
The main causes are identified as subjectivity, lack of awareness of prevention and workers have not been fully trained in occupational safety and hygiene.
