Speaking at the 1st Congress of the Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper on September 24, 2026, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi - former member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association - congratulated the event and assessed the establishment of the Association as an important milestone in the process of consolidating the Association organization of Lao Dong Newspaper.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, upgrading the Branch to a Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper is a step to consolidate the Association's organization, meeting the requirements of innovating operating methods, especially in the context that press agencies are implementing organizational arrangement and streamlining.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association acknowledged the results achieved by the Liaison Committee of Lao Dong Newspaper Journalists in the past time. Political and ideological education and professional ethics are concerned; the Liaison Committee coordinates with the Party Committee, Editorial Board and professional departments to thoroughly grasp the Party's guidelines, policies, laws of the State, the Press Law, regulations on professional ethics and Social Network Usage Rules of Vietnamese journalists. To date, no members have violated the law or professional ethics.
The work of building the Association organization, developing and managing members is maintained. The branch association has newly admitted 58 members, regularly reviewed and updated the list, issued and exchanged cards and transferred Association activities according to regulations. The total number of members currently is 160 people.
Professional training and fostering work is also focused on with 12 training sessions and in-depth exchanges on artificial intelligence (AI), contributing to improving technology application skills, meeting the requirements of digital transformation in journalistic activities.
The Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper actively participates in activities organized and launched by the Vietnam Journalists Association, including the National Press Association. The booths and journalistic products of Lao Dong Newspaper participating have all won awards over the years, including the Consolation Award in 2023, the C Award in 2024, the Consolation Award in 2025 and the Excellent Booth in 2026.
Notably, members of the Association reached 151 press awards, including 11 National Press Awards, 4 Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards and many awards awarded by ministries, departments, branches, and organizations at the central and local levels.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, the above results show that the activities of the Union branch are closely linked to professional tasks, contributing to gathering, uniting, and encouraging members, improving the quality of journalistic works and performing assigned political tasks.
In the context of the press facing new requirements for digital transformation, information competition, changing methods of approaching the public and applying AI, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi proposed that the Liaison Committee of the Lao Dong Newspaper Journalists Association for the 2026-2031 term continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, and promote its role in gathering, fostering and accompanying members.
First of all, the Liaison Committee needs to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement Directive No. 43-CT/TW dated April 8, 2020 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new situation; strictly implement the Press Law, 10 articles Regulating professional ethics of Vietnamese journalists and the Rules on using social networks for journalists.
After the Congress, the Association needs to develop working regulations, clearly assign responsibilities, innovate activities in a practical and effective direction; pay attention to management, fostering members, and improving professional skills in the digital press environment.
In particular, it is necessary to promote training and professional development, especially digital journalism skills and AI application. According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, the application of AI must go hand in hand with information verification, copyright assurance, data security and responsibility for the content created and spread.
The branch association also needs to promote its role in improving the quality of works, encouraging new topics and articles with discovery and social value; proactively participate in press awards, and at the same time discover and nurture a team of young reporters and editors.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi requested the Liaison Committee to actively participate in activities organized and launched by the Vietnam Journalists Association; promote propaganda about the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term 2026-2031.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association believes that the Journalists Association of Lao Dong Newspaper will continue to promote tradition, solidarity, responsibility and innovation; build an increasingly strong Association organization, making positive contributions to the development of Lao Dong Newspaper and Vietnamese revolutionary journalism.
