At 7:00 p.m. on August 16, the center of the tropical depression was at about 16.0 degrees north latitude; 112.8 degrees east longitude. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 6 (39 - 49 km/h), gusting to level 8; moving northwest at a speed of about 10 km/h.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move northwest at a speed of 10 - 15 km/h. At 7:00 p.m. on August 17, the center of the tropical depression was at about 18.4 degrees north latitude; 110.8 degrees east longitude, about 60 km southeast of Hainan Island (China). The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 6 - 7, gusting to level 9.
The danger zone is determined from latitude 15.5 to 19.5 degrees north; from longitude 109 to 114 degrees east. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the affected area, the western sea area of the northern East Sea, including the Hoang Sa special zone.
It is forecasted that in the next 48 hours, the tropical depression will move northwest at a speed of about 15 km/h.
At 7:00 p.m. on August 18, the center was at about 20.7 degrees north latitude; 108.7 degrees east longitude, in the northern area of the Gulf of Tonkin. Strong wind level 6, gust level 8. The danger zone is determined from latitude 17 to 22 degrees north; from longitude 107 to 112.5 degrees east.
Level 3 natural disaster risk, the affected area is the western sea area of the northern East Sea and the northern sea area of the Gulf of Tonkin.
It is forecasted that in the next 48 to 72 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move northwest at a speed of 10 - 15 km/h, gradually weakening.
Regarding the impact of the tropical depression at sea, the sea area west of the northern East Sea, including the sea area of Hoang Sa special zone, will have thunderstorms and strong winds of level 6 - 7, gusts of level 8 - 9, waves from 2 to 3.5 meters high, rough seas.
From the morning of August 18, the sea area north of the Gulf of Tonkin will have winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusts of level 8, waves from 2 to 3 meters high, rough seas. Ship operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.
