Typhoon No. 3 Kujira gusts at level 10, latest forecast path in the next 24 hours

On the night of August 4, the tropical depression over the southeastern sea area of the Northern East Sea strengthened into storm No. 3, internationally known as Kujira.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 4:00 AM on August 5th, the center of storm No. 3 was located at about 17 degrees North latitude - 118.9 degrees East longitude, in the sea area southeast of the Northern East Sea. The strongest wind near the center of the storm is level 8 (62-74 km/h), gusting to level 10. The storm moves in an East direction at a speed of about 10 km/h.

Forecast for the next 24 hours, the storm will move in an East-Northeast direction, at a speed of 5-10 km/h and gradually weaken into a tropical depression.

By 4:00 AM on August 6th, the center of the tropical depression will be located at approximately 17.1 degrees North latitude - 120.6 degrees East longitude; in the area northwest of Luzon Island (Philippines). Wind intensity is strong at level 7, gusting at level 9.

The dangerous area is located at about 16 to 18.5 degrees North latitude; east of 117.5 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the sea area southeast of the Northern East Sea region.

Forecast for the next 48 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move in the East-Northeast direction, at a speed of 5-10 km/h. The intensity gradually weakens into a low pressure area with winds below level 6.

By 4:00 AM on August 7, the center of the low pressure area will be located at about 17.2 degrees North latitude - 122.2 degrees East longitude, over the northeast of Luzon Island (Philippines).

Regarding the impact of the storm, the sea area southeast of the Northern East Sea area has strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 9, the area near the storm center passing through is strong at level 8, gusts of level 10; sea waves are 2 - 4m high, strong sea waves. Storm No. 3 is forecast not to affect the coastal and mainland areas of Vietnam.

Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.
