According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, there is little chance that storm No. 8 will directly affect the mainland of Vietnam.
"However, due to the influence of the storm circulation in the northern sea area of the North East Sea, there will be strong winds of level 6 - 7, gusting to level 9; The area near the storm's center will have strong winds of level 8 - 9, gusting to level 11. The waves are 3-5m high, the sea is very rough" - Mr. Huong analyzed.
Ship operating in the danger zone are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.
"We believe that after weakening into a low pressure area on mainland China, this low pressure area is likely to move gently towards our country, causing a widespread thunderstorm in the Northern provinces from September 23 to 24" - Head of the Weather Forecast Department warned.
More notably, Mr. Huong said that right after storm No. 9, another tropical depression in the Northwest Pacific Ocean has strengthened into a storm, weakly entering the East Sea.
"Around September 22, this storm is likely to enter the East Sea and directly affect the mainland of Vietnam from September 24 to 26" - Mr. Huong said.
The Head of the Weather Forecast Department said that the next storm will be strong, possibly causing strong winds and heavy rain in the North, provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue. The meteorological agency will continuously monitor the developments and path of this storm.
