The People's Council of Ben Tre Province has adjusted and supplemented the public investment plan from the State budget of Ben Tre Province for 2024.
Among them, 2 projects have been adjusted to increase capital, including: Building technical infrastructure to expand Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant and Renovating and upgrading the landfill at Phu Hung landfill, which have been adjusted and supplemented in the 2024 plan.
Accordingly, the project to build technical infrastructure to expand Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant has been adjusted to increase capital by 30,000 million VND. Meanwhile, the project to renovate and upgrade the landfill at Phu Hung landfill has been adjusted to increase capital by 1,250 million VND.
The reason for the capital increase adjustment for the two projects is to prioritize the implementation of the projects due to the urgent need for environmental stability, affecting public health.
According to a report by Lao Dong Newspaper on the afternoon of July 29, the amount of waste at Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant (Huu Dinh Commune, Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province) has not yet been relocated.
Additionally, the investor, the Project Management Board of Ben Tre City, is implementing the project to expand the road to Phu Hung landfill (Phu Hung Commune, Ben Tre City, Ben Tre Province), which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
When this project is completed, vehicles, especially garbage trucks traveling from Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (Ben Tre City) to Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant (Huu Dinh Commune, Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province) will have more convenience in transporting waste when the waste treatment plant is put into operation.
At the conference summarizing the socio-economic development tasks for the first 6 months of 2024 and deploying key tasks for the last 6 months of 2024 on July 18, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ben Tre Province Tran Ngoc Tam requested the continued implementation of the restructuring plan for Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant according to the schedule. In particular, focus on thoroughly resolving the backlog of waste temporarily stored at the province's waste treatment plant and thoroughly addressing environmental pollution, especially odors at landfills, with a focus on An Hiep landfill, as well as other plants and landfills in the province.
Regarding An Hiep landfill, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ben Tre Province Tran Ngoc Tam requested the People's Committee of Ba Tri District and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to organize a review meeting, and if there are any mistakes due to subjective reasons, to proceed with handling or propose the competent authority to handle the responsibility.
