Warning of heavy rain in 2 provinces, dangerous weather risk in the next 6 hours

The meteorological agency warns of the risk of flash floods and landslides after heavy rain in some communes and wards of Son La and Lao Cai.

According to the bulletin issued at 8:40 am from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 2 hours (from 6 am to 8 am on August 11), the area of Son La and Lao Cai provinces had moderate to heavy rain such as Quang Minh monitoring station 46.4mm, Huy Tuong 45.4mm (Son La); Tan Thinh 53.8mm, Chan Thinh 39.6mm (Lao Cai)...

The soil moisture model shows that some areas in the above provinces have been near saturation (over 85%) or reached saturation status.

Warning in the next 6 hours, the above provinces will continue to have rain with accumulated rainfall commonly from 20 - 50mm, in some places over 90mm.

Risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes in many communes/wards.

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, subsidence due to rain, floods or currents is level 1.

The meteorological agency recommends that functional agencies in localities pay attention to reviewing flow bottlenecks and key locations in the area to have preventive and response measures.
