According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently, the Central Highlands and Southeast regions have scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places.
The Central Highlands region (including the East of Lam Dong province) and the South from the evening of August 10 to August 11, are forecast to have showers and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall of 15 - 30mm, locally heavy to very heavy rain over 80mm. Rain time is concentrated in the afternoon and night.
In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Disaster risk level due to tornadoes, lightning, hail is level 1.
Rainstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works, and infrastructure. Localized heavy rains are likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas.
Regarding sea weather, currently, Phu Quy special zone has strong southwest winds at level 6, sometimes level 7, gusts at level 8; Phu Quoc special zone has strong gusts at level 8; Huyen Tran station has strong gusts at level 8. The sea area east of the Northern and Central East Sea, the South East Sea area, the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau has scattered showers and thunderstorms.
On the night of August 10 and the day of August 11, the Northern East Sea area (including the Hoang Sa special zone) will have strong winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusts of level 7; rough seas, waves from 2 - 4m high.
The central area of the East Sea, from Gia Lai to Vinh Long and the northern sea area of the South East Sea (including the northern Truong Sa special zone) have strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 7 - 8; rough seas, waves 3 - 5m high.
In addition, the eastern sea area of the North and central East Sea, the South East Sea area, the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to An Giang and the Gulf of Thailand have scattered showers and thunderstorms. In thunderstorms, there is a high possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind at level 7 - 8, sea waves over 2m high.
On the night of August 11 and August 12, the central area of the East Sea, the northern sea area of the South East Sea (including the northern sea area of the Truong Sa special zone) and the sea area from Gia Lai to Vinh Long will have strong southwest winds of level 6, gusts of level 7 - 8; waves 2 - 4m high; rough seas.
The meteorological agency warns that the level of natural disaster risk at sea is level 2. All ships operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and large waves.
