According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, yesterday and this morning, June 7, the Northern region had showers and localized thunderstorms.
From about late afternoon and night of June 8 to night of June 9, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An are likely to experience a period of moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30 - 80mm, locally over 200mm.
In particular, the meteorological agency warned that the Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Son La areas, and the western area of Phu Tho province will have rainfall of 60 - 120mm, with locally heavy rain over 250mm. The cause of this rainfall is determined to be due to the influence of late-season cold air.
Warning of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 100mm within 3 hours.
With weather conditions shifting from hot sun to thunderstorms, there is a high risk of extreme weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail is level 1.
Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes.
