From February 22nd (ie, the 6th day of Lunar New Year) to now, the weather in the North is generally cloudy, with fog in the early morning, accompanied by light rain and scattered drizzle. This is a typical period of the seasonal transition when humidity begins to appear on a large scale.
Mr. Hoang Phuc Lam - Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the main reason is that the cold air weakens and shifts to the east, bringing moisture from the sea continuously deep into the mainland. Humidity in the air is maintained at a high level for many days, causing the feeling of wetness to last day and night.
Meteorological experts believe that this development is consistent with the climate law of many years, when late February is usually the time when the North enters the peak of humidity.
According to Mr. Lam, in the late months and March, cold air will continue to be active but with relatively weak intensity.
After the Lunar New Year, the weather in the North will have a typical spring feature with small rain and drizzle lasting from the end of February to March" - Mr. Lam said.

Statistics from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from December 2025 to the first half of February 2026, there have been 8 cold spells. Including 2 widespread cold spells on January 6 - 10 and from January 22 - 25; along with 1 widespread cold spell on February 9 in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa - Nghe An.
The number of severe cold spells this winter is assessed to be less than the average of many years.
The Deputy Director of the meteorological agency assessed that this winter is relatively warm.
Strong cold air waves cause severe cold, frost, and frost relatively little. The average temperature of winter is generally about 0.5 to 1 degree Celsius higher than the multi-year average. Cold air waves from now until the end of the season are likely to occur with less frequency than the average and less intensity" - Mr. Lam further analyzed.
Regarding the rainfall trend, in the next month, the total rainfall in areas nationwide is generally approximately or higher than the multi-year average of the same period from 10 - 30mm, in some places higher than 30mm.
Ha Tinh - Hue and the South Central Coast regions are likely to experience some widespread rains. The Southern region may experience some days of unseasonal rain. Dangerous weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind are likely to occur locally.
Regarding sea weather, in the next month, it is forecast that storms/tropical depressions are unlikely to appear in the East Sea area. According to multi-year averages, there are 0.1 storms/tropical depressions in the East Sea, not making landfall in Vietnam.
