The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has released a weather trend forecast for the next month (from now until January 10, 2025).
Regarding temperature trends, the average temperature nationwide is approximately the same as the average of many years in the same period.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa - Deputy Head of Climate Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that during the forecast period, cold air tends to be more active than the average of many years in the same period.
"From now until January 2025, there is a possibility of many days of severe cold in the North," said Mr. Hoa.
Severe cold in the northern provinces, with the risk of frost and ice, will greatly affect livestock, crops and people's health, especially in mountainous areas.
Previously, during the period from November 11 to December 10, there were two cold spells on November 26 and December 6. Notably, the cold spell on December 6 caused cold weather in the Northern and North Central regions; some mountainous areas experienced severe cold.

Total rainfall in the North, North Central and Central Highlands from now until January 10, 2025 will generally be 10 - 20mm lower than the average of many years, some places in the Northwest may be lower than the above level.
The area from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa and the north of Ninh Thuan has total rainfall 50 - 100mm higher than the average of many years. Other areas have total rainfall 10 - 20mm higher than the average of many years in the same period.
According to Mr. Hoa, in the next month, the Central and South Central regions will continue to experience widespread moderate and heavy rains; the Southern region is likely to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized moderate and heavy rains.
Southern provinces continue to be on guard against the possibility of dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Regarding dangerous weather phenomena at sea, the meteorological agency forecasts that from now until January 10, 2025, there is little possibility of storms/tropical depressions appearing in the East Sea as well as affecting mainland Vietnam.
Previously, from November 11 to December 10, 2024, there were 3 storms in the East Sea.
The meteorological agency noted that in the next month, dangerous weather phenomena at sea are likely to cause strong winds and large waves affecting ship operations.
