The temperature has a fairly clear differentiation according to the terrain. The lowest temperature recorded in Sa Pa (Lao Cai) is 7.8 degrees C, followed by Tam Duong (Lai Chau) 10.7 degrees C, Dong Van (Tuyen Quang) 10.7 degrees C and Mau Son (Lang Son) 11.7 degrees C. Some other mountainous areas such as Mu Cang Chai (Lao Cai) 10.1 degrees C, Tam Dao (Phu Tho) 13.9 degrees C, Moc Chau (Son La) 13.9 degrees C maintain lower temperatures than the plains.

In the Northern Midlands and Plains, the common temperature is in the range of 14 - 16.5 degrees Celsius. Ha Dong (Hanoi) recorded 15.5 degrees Celsius; Bac Ninh 15.9 degrees Celsius; Hung Yen 16.1 degrees Celsius...

Coastal areas and North Central Coast tend to be warmer, with Bai Chay (Quang Ninh) 18.2 degrees C, Sam Son (Thanh Hoa) 18.4 degrees C, Vinh (Nghe An) 17.8 degrees C and Ha Tinh 18.7 degrees C. The highest temperature in today's data table is recorded in Ha Tinh.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has also updated the weather trend forecast for next week across the country.

The Northern and North Central regions from January 26 to January 27, with light rain, drizzle and scattered fog. Cold weather, mountainous and midland areas have places with severe cold.

From the night of January 27th, the Northern and North Central regions will have light rain in some places, early morning fog and light fog in some places; from about late afternoon and night of January 30th to January 31st, there will be scattered rain. From January 28th to February 4th, the Northern and North Central regions will be cold, especially the Northern mountainous region will have severe cold in some places.

The area from Quang Tri to Da Nang city and the eastern province from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai will have light rain in some places; especially the periods from January 28 to January 29 and from January 31 to February 3, there will be rain, showers and thunderstorms in some places. The north will be cold at night and early morning.

Other areas in the period from the night of January 27 to February 4, it is forecast that there will be showers in some places at night, sunny days.

The meteorological agency warns that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

Assessing this year's winter weather, the meteorological agency said that the winter of 2025 - 2026 tends to be warmer than the multi-year average. The average temperature for the entire winter is generally 0.5 - 1 degree Celsius higher than the multi-year average. The number of days of severe cold and harmful cold in winter is also forecast to be less than the average.

The cold trend in the northern provinces will continue to be maintained in January and February. It is forecast that there may still be severe cold spells, but in a short time in the Northern region, the intensity is unlikely to be too strong. The most noteworthy thing in the coming time is the risk of frost and frost in mountainous areas.
