According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and this morning (September 9), the mountainous areas of the North had moderate rain, heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain.
Rainfall from 7pm on September 8 to 8am on September 9 was over 100mm at monitoring stations such as: Cong Bang (Thai Nguyen) station 132mm, Thang Tin (Tuyen Quang) station 115.8mm, Thach An station (Cao Bang) 107.2mm, Lang Mo station (Lai Chau) 104.8mm, Tan Tien station (Lao Cai) 101.6mm.
In the mountainous and midland areas of the North from the morning of September 9 to the night of September 10, there is a forecast of moderate rain, heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 60 - 120mm, locally over 250mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 100mm within 3 hours.
Other places in the North in the evening and night of September 9 are forecast to have showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30mm, locally over 70mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 60mm within 3 hours.
From September 11, heavy rain in the mountainous and midland areas of the North will gradually decrease.
The Central and Southern Plateau areas during the day and night of September 9 are forecast to have showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 15 - 30mm, locally over 80mm, rain concentrated in the afternoon and evening.
The warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.
Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes.

During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Regarding the sea weather, currently, the sea area from Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand and the north of the Gulf of Tonkin has showers and thunderstorms.
Forecast for the day and night of September 9, the northern part of the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Lam Dong to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, the southern East Sea area (including Truong Sa special zone) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6 - 7 and waves over 2m high. All ships operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.
