Warning to communes and wards in 2 provinces at risk of flooding due to heavy rain

The meteorological agency has warned of a high risk of flooding in low-lying riverside areas in some communes/wards of Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa provinces due to heavy rain.

Updated bulletin issued at 3:30 PM on September 17 from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, floods on some rivers are fluctuating around alarm level 3.

In the past 12 hours, floods downstream of the Hoang Long and Day rivers (Ninh Binh) have been rising and at levels close to alarm level 3 to above alarm level 3.

Downstream floods of the Buoi River and Ma River (Thanh Hoa) are rising, upstream floods of the Chu River (Thanh Hoa) and Ca River (Nghe An) are receding.

Water levels at 13:00 on September 17th on rivers are as follows:

On the Boi River at Hung Thi station 12.9m, about 0.10m below alarm level 3.

On the Hoang Long River at Ben De station 4.58m, about 0.58m above alarm level 3.

On the Buoi River at Kim Tan station, 13.24m, 1.24m above alarm level 3.

On the Ma River at Giang station 5.49m, approximately alarm level 2.

On the Chu River at Bai Thuong station 15.30m, about 0.30m above alarm level 1.

On the Ca River at Muong Xen 138.09m, about 0.09m above alarm level 1.

Forecast for the next 12 hours, the downstream flood of the Ma River will continue to rise and be above alarm level 2.

In the next 12 - 24 hours, the downstream flood of the Ma River will continue to fluctuate above alarm level 2.

In the next 24 - 36 hours, the downstream flood of the Ma River will fall below alarm level 2.

Warning in the next 24 hours, floods on the Hoang Long, Day, and downstream Buoi rivers will change slowly and at a high level above alarm level 3; upstream of the Chu and Ca rivers will fluctuate above alarm level 1.

High risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides on slopes in Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An provinces. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to floods is level 2-3.
